Disable the abbreviation of numbers (K/m) on the graph axes and keep the variation arrows and%
Quentin Picarrougne
I use Gamma to generate financial performance monitoring reports via the API (generate_from_template). My charts show specific amounts in euros (ex: 22,099€, 10,888€),
but the chart axes automatically abbreviate these values to “22k €” or “10 k €”, even when the source data is provided in full integers.
For a client report in wealth management, this abbreviation loses the expected precision.
My request: to be able to deactivate this automatic abbreviation globally, at the document or theme level, rather than having to correct each graph individually after generation. Ideally, this setting should also be retained for future generations based on a template whose graphics have already been adjusted manually.
In the same way, you should be able to keep the variation arrows and% of variation in the dna sun template graphs to have them every time when using generate from template

Hey Quentin Picarrougne, thanks for the super detailed writeup, this makes total sense for wealth management style client reporting where the exact € amounts matter. I’ll pass this to the team: a global setting (doc/theme or template-level) to disable k/M axis abbreviation, and to have template chart settings like variation arrows and % persist across future generate_from_template runs.
Quick question so we can scope it cleanly: do you want this to apply to all chart types by default, or only specific ones (ex: bar/line), with others still allowed to abbreviate?

Nik Payne (Gamma design) Thanks for the quick response!
To answer your question: ideally, no abbreviation anywhere, across all chart types (bar/column/line, but also pie/donut if those ever show abbreviated values too). Precision matters across the whole document for us, not just on specific charts.
But the most important point for our use case: the behavior should always stay consistent with what's defined in the template. If I've configured a chart in the template to show full numbers, any generation via generate_from_template should reproduce that same setting without me needing to fix it again each time. The template should be the source of truth for formatting, not a system default applied on top.
Thanks again for looking into this,
Quentin
