Improve card headers and footers
T
Tom Flatt
when placing a footer with "centralized" location, it does not stay centralized when adding an accent image on left or right. it moves away from the center. That is not good for presentations. Please amend it.

Sidetal
N
Nana Voxtrup
Hej Gamma-team,
Mange hilsner Nana

Also, you can add page numbers via card headers and footers in "Page setup"!

Hey Nana Voxtrup, thanks for the super clear writeup, this totally makes sense for contracts and anything you need to print cleanly. I’ll pass this along to the team.
Quick couple questions so we design it right:
1) Do you mainly need page numbers in the exported PDF only, or also while viewing in Gamma?
2) When you print today, are you printing from the PDF export or straight from the browser print dialog?

Nik Payne (Gamma design) Thanks for the quick reply!
To answer your questions:
Ideally, I would like to see the page numbers while working in Gamma as well, not just in the exported PDF. It helps keep track of document length and structure, especially for longer contracts and reports.
The documents are exported as PDFs before being shared. I don't actually print them myself (I don't even own a printer 😊), but many of my clients print contracts and sign them by hand. In those cases, page numbers provide a much better overview and make it easier to ensure all pages are present and in the correct order.
That's also why options such as page number placement, excluding the cover page, and formats like "Page X of Y" would be very valuable.
Hope that helps, and thanks for passing the feedback along to the team!

Card Date

Hi - it would be great if there could be a dynamic date in the header/footer section. I found on Claude a workaound but it said I would have to imbed a live web page. Would be awesome if date changes dynamically.
Thanks!

Hey Nate Dworkin, love this idea. A dynamic “today’s date” in headers/footers would be super handy. I’ll pass it along to the team.
Quick couple questions so we build it the right way:
1) Do you want the date to update automatically every day, or “freeze” to the date the doc was last exported/presented?
2) Where do you need it to update: in the editor, in shared links, in exports (PDF/PPT), or all of the above?
If you have a preferred format (like “May 27, 2026” vs “2026-05-27”), tell me and I’ll include that too.

Hey Nate Dworkin, love this idea. A dynamic “today’s date” in header/footer would be super handy. When you say dynamic, do you mean it should update automatically every time you open/present/export the doc, or only when you publish it? Also, are you hoping for a specific format (like “May 27, 2026” vs “2026-05-27”)? I’ll pass this along to the team.

Nate Dworkin
Nik Payne (Gamma design) Yes, exactly. One function for presentations is that I can just select "date" and it will show the date today, in a format like what you mentioned above. When you are updating presentations it can be easy to miss changing the dates. Thank you!

Footer control not available in Plus membership
Orkun Oz
First of all, I gotta say, I've been constantly raving about how great Gamma app is to everyone struggling with creating captivating presentations. I do get there are membership tiers in your app. It makes sense given increase AI token usage of your pro users. But putting something as trivial as changing a slide footer or header behind a 2nd paywall is unacceptable, and dare I say, a moneygrab a la Scrooge McDuck

Page Numbers

Need to be able to put page numbers on cards for documents. Even word let you do this in 1998.. Lets get moving with the times Gamma, I love you but we need this for documents.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Orkun Oz appreciate you saying that, and yeah I hear you. Locking something like header/footer control behind a higher tier could be frustrating.
I’ll pass this along to the team, but quick gut-check so we capture it right:
1) Is your main need removing the Gamma branding, or just customizing your own footer text (page numbers, date, company name, etc)?
2) Is this for every slide by default, or do you need per-slide control too?
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Also, I led design on the feature. Will pass along to the team
Orkun Oz
Nik Payne (Gamma design) Thanks for the quick feedback, Nik.
1) my main need is to add my own company logo to the footer/header.
2) I wouldn't need that much granular control. Presentation-wide customization would be pretty much enough for most of my needs

Nik Payne (Gamma design) Hi, it is mainly for documents so when you present them or they have to be signed that page numbers assist in forming that agreement. Header and footer could be a great tool for branding too, eg logo on each page etc. I think its either a header / footer on every page or no pages, a little un-necessary for only 1 page I feel. Within gamma would be better rather than just print or export if possible.
