Improve powerpoint and google slides export quality
in progress
IRON DAN
When it comes to exporting to PowerPoint I suppose it has a predefined size for the slides, which means that if my presentation in gamma has a size, when I want to export it to pptx it is cropped and it looks weird or there are parts left out, my recommendation is that they add some type of preview with a frame the size of the pptx slide so that the user can make sure that everything will be in the margins and he will not have to be exporting again and again to see the changes he is making with the size of pptx

There is an option to select Page set up. Its on the same drop dfown menu with export

Export from Gamma to PPT completely distorts the presentation in PPT
parminder gujral
I am a Clinical Marketing Manager in Medical Devices . I have paid for the Gamma annual subscription to improve my efficiency, precision & speed I require professional ppts for sharing with Drs which means minimalist clutter with white background on my Company template. The issues that i am facing are 1) When making the gamma i would want calibri & or Aptos as my default fonts with header 40 & Body fonts 16 to 20 (on my template) depending on content 2)I require Office Theme as in Windows 11 MS office with header & body (One Box with bulleted points which can be edited with one selection of the box & not line by line) 3)This is mandated by the company. Now the issues i face in Gamma & the exporting to ppt 1) The prompts given to Gamma on ideation, creation, research & final presentation in Gamma are in-depth & precise when source documents are provided otherwise it churns out outdated information 2) Calibri & Aptos fonts are not available. Normally it uses Raleway i think which is not very friendly when converting3)The presentation when in Gamma form looks quite well spaced throughout the cards after adjusting the font sizes which you expect what your final exported ppt will look like 4)When you export the Gamma to ppt all hell breaks loose & what you get is nowhere near the presentation that you expected. The observations: 1) The ppt slides are not spaced evenly from left to right or top to bottom. they are either shrunk or overflowing. You can't recognize this was the presentation that Gamma made 2) The contents are in a line & if you have to edit anything you have to do the back breaking job of selecting each box & editing which virtually blinds you since it so strenuous 3)You have to edit each & every box manually & you wonder why i used Gamma in the first place. I could have used Claude or Co Pilot to get better presentations. Now since i have paid my annual subscription i am stuck with this. I seek your active intervention to rectify these issues. In your feedback section there are 307 people who have expressed dissatisfaction only in EXPORTING Gamma to PPT & there is no solution from your end so far. Hope that you address this problem on a war footing basis if you would not like to lose your customers. Looking forward to your response ASAP Regards Parminder

Hey parminder gujral, really appreciate you laying all this out. I’m sorry the PPT export is blowing up your spacing and turning edits into a box-by-box slog, especially when you’re on a strict company template for HCP-facing decks. I’m going to pass this to the team.
To help us pinpoint what’s breaking in the export, can you share:
1) A sample Gamma (or a couple screenshots of a “looks good in Gamma” card and the same slide “broken in PPT”), plus which PPT version you’re opening it in (Windows 11 desktop app, web, Mac, etc)?
2) Does the distortion happen on every deck or mainly when you apply your company template fonts/sizes (Calibri/Aptos, header 40, body 16-20), and are you exporting with the template applied or applying it after export?
If you can share even one representative example, that’ll make it way easier for us to reproduce and fix.

Nik Payne (Gamma design)Thanks for your revert. I am attaching a ppt presentation that i exported from Gamma. You will observe that it is totally cramped up & cluttered. If i try to edit the text spills over & gets cramped. I am unable to upload the Gamma presentation but i am attaching a screen shot of one of the cards to show how different the PPT looks from the Gamma.I have the windows 365 MS outlook version & directly open the exported presentation on the Desktop & not through any web version. I am unable to change the fonts to calibri which is my company mandated & also unable to adjust the font size. Please try & find a fix so i can use Gamma as a default. I have not been able to use this as more frequently than i thought i would use because of these issues.

Hey, parminder gujral – I'm a PM at Gamma and I'm taking a look at improving export. Thanks for sharing the PPT – do you mind sharing your Gamma with me as well? That would help a lot. You can post the shared link here or share with me at jasper@gamma.app – thanks!
parminder gujral
Hi Jasper I have copied the link to one of the Gamma presentations that i made in Gamma & i have already uploaded earlier its ppt version after exporting from Gamma to ppt. You can see the stark difference between the two. Gamma shows you an ideal presentation but when you export to PPT you can barely recognise it. You have to do so many editing's wasting time & effort but you still do not get what you had in Gamma. Please guide on how i can export the gamma to ppt & what are the steps i need to take to get a good quality ppt with Calibri or fonts that are available. Does Gamma have Calibri font typeface to make the Gamma itself in Calibri & export to ppt with Calibri itself rather than converting Raleway which is the default in Gamma then to Calibri. Please note i am not a technical person so would need your guidance in easy to follow steps. Thanks

I was expecting a solution to my problem not just merging it along with so many issues. If you can address this issue on my mail id singhmmm1802@gmail.com would appreciate it. Presently I am not able use a Annual paid version because of these issues. A simple solution from you on how to export Gammas into ppt on a Windows 11 platform would be helpful. Thanks Parminder

I am a non-Technical person hence i expect solutions which will be user friendly & not complex

Font export issue in PowerPoint (PPTX) — incorrect handling of bold style
I
Igor Stolyarov
Hi Gamma team,
I’m experiencing a problem when exporting presentations to PowerPoint (.pptx). In the Gamma interface, I set a font to Arial with Bold weight. However, in the generated PPTX, the font is written in the XML as a separate typeface "Arial Bold" instead of using the standard Arial typeface with a b="1" attribute for bold.
Current (incorrect) XML snippet from slide*.xml:
xml
<a:rPr>
<a:latin typeface="Arial Bold" pitchFamily="34" charset="0"/>
</a:rPr>
Expected (correct) format according to Office Open XML specification:
xml
<a:rPr b="1">
<a:latin typeface="Arial" pitchFamily="34" charset="0"/>
</a:rPr>
The current output causes font substitution issues when the presentation is opened in PowerPoint on systems where "Arial Bold" is not registered as a separate font (which is the default on Windows and macOS). The correct approach uses the family name "Arial" and the bold property b="1" to apply the bold style.
This affects any font where a bold variant is requested. Please update the PPTX exporter to follow the standard OOXML structure.
Thank you for your attention to this issue. Let me know if you need any additional details or test files.
Best regards,
Igor

better ppt export
MTD
PPT is the way presentations happen. it is how they are shared. it is how most companies create and use them. It allows you to have the files on your local system so you can edit and present them without network access.
You ppt export is a no go. And asking someone to use a gamma link is also okay in some instances but not going to work at the schools i create content for. and if I am just going to end up doing a crapload of editing on what you create I might as well just stick with Claude since it can do a bunch of other things as well.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Totally hear you. If PPT is the real delivery format for schools and offline use, a weak export basically makes Gamma a non-starter, so thanks for spelling that out. I’ll pass this to the team.
Quick couple questions so we know what “better PPT export” needs to mean for you:
1) What specifically breaks in the exported PPT today (layout shifts, fonts, images, speaker notes, animations, theme colors, slide sizes, something else)?
2) In your school workflow, what’s the minimum bar for “usable” so you don’t have to do a ton of cleanup (ex: editable text boxes, master slides, exact spacing, embedded fonts, works offline in PowerPoint/Google Slides)?
